The building & grounds have been refurbished as part of the George Street Cultural Quarter initiative. The Foundation Stone of Holy Cross Church was laid, with much ceremony, two years before the opening day, by Fr Seed, SJ, Jesuit Provincial, on May 3rd 1860, the Feast of the Finding of the True Cross. The Solemn Opening of the church took place on Thursday 1st May 1862.
